The EyeTel Retinal Imaging System

The Camera

The DigiScope is a semi-automated fundus camera developed through a collaboration of the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University and EyeTel Imaging, Inc.  It is easily operated by a technician and produces high quality images allowing you to screen for and detect Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy and optic disc abnormalities such as Glaucoma.  Images are displayed on the high resolution screen for your review and can be easily printed.  Ample digital storage enables easy comparison of prior year images to current images to monitor changes.

The Service

Beyond just the DigiScope, the EyeTel Retinal Imaging System uses a state-of-the-art telemedicine approach to provide an expert second opinion at your request.  For every patient, selectively for high-risk patients, or for those with indications of pathology, you can transmit the images over the Internet with the touch of a button to the EyeTel Reading Center for expert consultation.  Within two business days, you are faxed a complete report.  Full sets of marked patient images along with the related reports are also available on our secure website.  For critical cases requiring attention urgently, you receive a phone call and fax.
