Screening & Medical ImagingThe EyeTel Retinal Imaging System offers dual modality imaging.Screening Mode:Used in conjunction with annual eye exams, the screening function allows routine patients to be screened for AMD/glaucoma in about three minutes, in most cases, without dilation. One image is taken of the macula and two of the optic disc. For diabetic retinopathy, we still recommend dilation for any patient with diabetes, but have reduced the number of images to six for the screening mode. Medical Imaging Mode:If the Optometric physician suspects or diagnoses disease from screening, the medical mode uses more images for a wider field of view and provides stereo imaging of the optic disc and the macula. For AMD/glaucoma, six images are taken, and for DR eleven, in both cases through dilated pupils. If the physician is a participating provider with medical health insurers, these tests may be billed to the health plans using CPT code 92250. |
